Action on harassment
A small number of tenants face the threat of illegal eviction and harassment.
It’s important to be clear that this affects a small number of people, but for those who are harassed out of their home the experience is traumatic and can leave people homeless.
The Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 established a new Tribunal for the Private Rented Sector to take cases away from the Sheriff Courts. We believe Local Authorities should also have a duty to investigate unlawful evictions and harassments, and the power to take cases direct to the Tribunal on behalf of tenants.
